Haematological outcomes and prospects in thalassaemia's prevention and care

The Associazione Nazionale per la lotta contro le Microcitemie in Italia (ANMI Onlus), to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its foundation, has organized the 2nd “E. Silvestroni & I. Bianco Memorial” in memory of its founders.

For the occasion the International Symposium “Progress in the Management of Hemoglobin Disorders: New Perspectives for Diagnostics, Prevention and Care” will be held on November 4th, 2011.

The purpose of the meeting is to highlight the most important experiences in the prevention of Thalassemia and to compare the various prevention strategies in progress and for the future, adopted for people from different cultures and with different ethics and religions, to monitor the progress made in Hemoglobinopathy diagnosis and to show the latest cutting edge techniques in the treatment of Thalassemia, including the evolution and prospects in gene therapy.

For the last fifty years the Association has dedicated its efforts to increasing knowledge of hemoglobinopathies, and it is continuing in its work towards better prevention and in search for the best possible treatment throughout the world.
